Campaign of the Month: March 2013
Forgotten Sagas of the 13th Age
“The Dragon Empire of the 13th Age was a time of change, of danger, and of chaos. It was not a place and an era without peace and prosperity, but there were many forces working against the Empire. The first Orc Lord in many Ages was prowling the edges of civilization looking for a way in, with unusual new allies and magics at his disposal. The Diabolist was bringing the Blood War to the world, despite the work of the Great Gold Wyrm and even the tainted efforts of the Crusader. Even defenders of the Empire such as the Archmage or the Priestess found a growing corruption within their domains that they, at times, struggled to rid themselves of. There were many dangers, both mundane and magical, faced by the people of the world. Not just the Empire, but all peoples near and far.
What records we have of this era are… patchwork at best. We have enough to guess at the broader history, but little enough about the details. We can often piece together the what, but rarely have insight as to who or why. What I present to you here now might change that, at least to some degree. With years painstaking research, and not a little bit of luck in finding old texts and oral histories, we have managed to compile the legends and histories of a small group of adventurers who seemed to have a small, but important, impact on the way the world as we know it has come to be.
We can’t be sure how much of what we have managed to put together is truth, how much is legend, and how much lies in between. However, these forgotten sagas of the 13th Age might be the best look we have so far at that time and place and to expand our understanding. And, if I may say so, it’s a rather entertaining yarn to hear regardless of the historical relevance. Today I will read excerpts from the manuscript that we have compiled. Fear not, I will take frequent breaks for tea and other refreshments.
There are several fragments of tales of these people before they met and began to travel with one another, but for our purposes today we will begin with the first known time that they were all working together. It begins in the city of Osis…"

Forgotten Sagas of the 13th Age Comments
Krall, I’m glad you’re enjoying it. We’ve worked pretty hard on it.
AZ_Rune thought I might like the game, and I do!
I’ll send a message to Micah or Jerry next week if I haven’t seen something by then. As much for my players as for me, really. I do want to start posting more of the maps and tokens that I use here. My original plan was to take screenshots as the fights went on, but that was too difficult for me to keep track of as I was trying to GM at the same time. That being said, there’s no reason I can’t just upload the maps and such elsewhere and link them later. It will add a nice visual element to people watching the videos later on.
Sorry, when I say “NEW GMs”, I meant “NEW TO ME”……
Hi Phelanar and congratulations for CotM!
I’m always happy to see new systems and new GMs winning this award. I enjoyed the interview and have now had a good browse through the campaign. I like the whole premise of the camapaign as a gathering of notes from adventurers’ and chuckled at Prof Gianam’s line: “Fear not, I will take frequent breaks for tea and other refreshments.”
I’m always intersted in Gods and Pantheons and like the sound of the Elemental Dragons and Dark Gods. I also really like your DM Point Cards.
Your City of Osis detail is extremely comprehensive, so I hope you are able to utilize it by the characters actually spending quite a bit of time in the city.
Keeping a record of the Google+ conference centre is a novel idea. I guess it will also be really good for referring back to what was actually said about something during the game.
All in all, I am quite impressed by the campaign so far and feel happy to “Favorite” this. I look forward to seeing some more PICTURES in the future and maybe a nice map or two.
Re: the Master’s Master thing. It is not automatically upgraded, so if you have put out a request to Gerry or Micah, I’m sure you won’t have to wait too long. If you don’t hear anything after a couple of weeks, I would give them another nudge.
Happy to make acquaintance,

I am not sure if there is a set interval between winning COTM and getting the badge. I asked Jerry about it after one of my players inquired with me about the “Enviable Position” badge in December of 2012 and Jerry had it done within 24 hours.
Thank you very much. Question for you. How long did it take before that “A Master’s Master” badge showed up for you on your profile?
Congrats on Winning COTM – Welcome to the club.
